Edisson has PhD in Chemistry from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. His research has been focused on natural products -isolation and identification, bioprospecting, and organic chemistry with focus on spectroscopic techniques, conventional and modern chromatographic and instrumental analysis. In 2012 and 2013 he developed a research internship in synthesis of natural products at the University of Nottingham (UK). He was an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Universidad de La Sabana in Colombia and the head of the Bioprospecting Research Group in the same university, having as main topics of research, marine natural products chemistry. He has published about 20 scientific papers and two chapters dealing with his scientific research results in high impact journals. Finally, he has been awarded with the “Early Career Chemist Award” from the American Chemical Society (ACS) in 2015, with a Laureate Ph.D. Thesis in 2013 and Meritorious Magister Thesis in 2008.
