Paul received his BA in Chemistry from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, and a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. While an undergraduate, Paul worked with Dr. Klaus Friedrich at Detroit Mercy, synthesizing bisphenol S (BPS) and 2-naphthol derivatives, an environmental estrogen and air pollution biomarker, respectively. Furthermore, at Grinnell, Paul studied computational chemistry with Dr. Heriberto Hernandez focusing on various structures of platinum nanoclusters.
Paul became interested in food and flavor chemistry with his passion for cooking. With Paul’s combined excitement of chemistry and food, he joins FREC 2022 as a research associate. Outside of cooking and chemistry, Paul likes to spend time playing a friendly game of basketball, playing with his dachshund, Camille. He also likes to go on road trips to national parks.
